Na'vi Translator
Translate English words and phrases to Na'vi with a free fan-made lookup, then decode supported output. Unknown terms stay unchanged—no signup.
Use this free English-to-Na’vi tool for a quick word-and-phrase lookup. Type or paste English into the box and the supported output updates automatically below it, ready to copy. Turn on Decode to English when you want to look up supported Na’vi output in the other direction.
Important: This is an unofficial fan-made vocabulary aid, not a fluent translation service or a full representation of the language. It does not understand sentence meaning or apply Na’vi grammar, pronunciation, word order or inflection.
How to Use the Na'vi Translator
- Type or paste English text into the input box.
- Read the result that appears automatically.
- Select Copy to place the exact displayed text on your clipboard.
- Turn on Decode to English before pasting supported Na’vi output for a reverse lookup.
What This Na'vi Translator Does
The tool compares your input with a fixed built-in fan dictionary containing 451 English entries. Three of those entries are multi-word phrases. The same input produces the same output because this is a deterministic browser-based lookup.
A result can contain both Na’vi and unchanged English. An unchanged term means the current table has no matching entry; it does not mean that the term is valid Na’vi.
Phrase Matching, Unknown Words and Punctuation
Supported multi-word phrases are matched before individual words. For example, I see you becomes Oel ngati kameie as one stored phrase. After that pass, remaining words are checked individually.
Unsupported words, numbers, emoji and punctuation stay unchanged. Capitalized and all-uppercase words broadly keep their casing. If a hyphenated term has no full match, supported parts can still change while unsupported parts remain visible.
How Decode to English Works
Decode reverse-looks up the same fixed table. It cannot validate grammar or guarantee the original English. The current dictionary has 28 groups where multiple English entries share one Na’vi output, and Decode returns the first stored English match.
For example, I am me becomes Oe lu oe, which decodes as I be i. Use Decode as a limited vocabulary aid rather than proof that a sentence is correct.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Na'vi Translator free?
Yes. The Na'vi Translator is currently free to use in a modern browser and does not require account sign-up.
Why do some words stay in English?
The tool uses a fixed fan dictionary with 451 English entries. An unsupported word or phrase stays unchanged instead of being invented.
Does this translate the full Na'vi language?
No. It performs deterministic word-and-phrase lookup without understanding sentence meaning or applying grammar, pronunciation, word order or inflection.
How does Decode to English work?
Decode reverse-looks up the same limited table. Because multiple English entries can share one output, it may return the first stored match rather than the exact original wording.
Can I use the Na'vi Translator on mobile?
Yes. In a current mobile or desktop browser, type in the input box and select Copy beside the generated result.
Can I copy and paste the Na'vi output into other apps?
Yes. Copy places the displayed text on your clipboard, although character display can depend on the destination app and its font support.
Is this an official or professional Na'vi translator?
No. It is an independent fan-made vocabulary lookup and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Paul Frommer, the Avatar franchise or its rights holders.
